As you walk the streets of Vietnam you will find tangled, narrow alleyways branching off of every main street. It is in these intimate, back streets that the real Vietnam can be seen. While the main roads are abustle with people and noise many alleyways are quiet and serene, others are shadowy and enticing.

This print is my interpretation of a photograph taken by Hisu Lee (@Hisu Lee) which can be found on the website Unsplash. It reminded me of the many alleyways I passed in Vietnam and how I wondered what people did in their quiet shadows.

The young Asian woman reading the book looks so serene she immediately made me feel calm. I loved the colours as well. The silky, smooth satiny blue of her dress, the way it catches the light from the window and how it is set against the brown background. It is just so beautiful. I just adore this print and it’s one of my favourites. I hope it becomes one of yours.
